Highly Specialist Systemic Family Therapist

Maggie has  first degrees in social work (Oxford Brookes)  and Modern  History  (Christ Church , Oxford)and an MA in Systemic family psychotherapy (The Tavistock, 1997). She is UKCP registered.

She  has worked in youth justice and child protection in Oxfordshire Social Services before training as family therapist at the Tavistock in the mid 1990s where she received a distinction.

She has worked in many different clinical settings, including CAHMS and  inpatient adolescent units for young people with eating disorders. She has a training in Metallization based family therapy and took part in a pilot programme of research this for the Anna Freud Centre. She has also appeared as an Expert Witness for the Anna Freud Centre  Family Assessment service for children in care proceedings.

She teaches at the Tavistock Centre on the systemic postgraduate training and on the MA programme.

She has also been the Tavistock's organising tutor for Agency based trainings in introductory systemic theory for social care staff in Richmond and Hackney Social Services.

Maggie offers family therapy and parent coaching  for a variety of difficulties; for example behavioural problems in children such as obsessional or aggressive  behaviour  , anxiety , eating disorders or self harm.

She is also experienced in working with families where parents have separated and in helping them manage the transition and promote ongoing  parental communication post-separation.
