Who Is This Protocol For?
Psychologists, psychotherapists & counsellors
Have you had enough of hearing your clients say ” ‘I know it’s irrational, but I can’t help the way I feel’!”.
Most modern therapies are still overly abstract and intellectual. They are good at talking about the problem, around the problem and going all round the houses of the problem but crucially not actually dealing directly with the problem. Teaching the client how to lecture his/her mind about the obvious need for change is the slow way. Think of your own experiences in the past – how motivated were you to change your behaviour after someone gave you a lecture on values you didn’t agree with? Working directly with emotions and with the problematic part is the faster, easier and longer lasting way. The 4Rs is a ‘cut to the chase’ therapy and will enable you to experience a whole new way of working with clients that takes you away from intellectual talking therapies and gets you and the client involved straight away in getting to the crux of the real problem.
4Rs can be used either as a standalone therapy for clients who are not good hypnotees, or as a preparation for any hypnosis. I have found my success rates with hypnosis shot up whenever I used 4Rs beforehand. 4Rs not only helps build rapport and trust but crucially it allows you to explore secondary gains and elicit subconscious objections in advance. This will help you to clarify and understand the real state of affairs you are working on, and where to direct the focus of your attention. Don’t go blind into hypnosis with a client, giving them a general script and hoping something will stick. Go in armed with knowledge about where you need to work and what you need to do. 4Rs incorporates many of the successful principles of good hypnosis for inducing change, but some simple and effective hypnosis inductions will be taught in order to help integrate and consolidate the changes gained from 4Rs.
NLP practitioners & change workers
Most NLP trainings teach some clever techniques but they fall short on providing some kind of coherent framework for working through a problem with a client. I have heard many NLP practitioners report feeling stranded out at sea once their stock techniques fail to have the desired impact. Lacking a comprehensive flow chart to guide them, they can very quickly feel lost. Training in 4Rs provides invaluable breadth and depth to your work so you will have a framework for change to guide you. There is also scope to incorporate your own NLP short interventions and techniques into the modular format itself.
Benefits of Training in 4Rs
- Take the worry out of whether your hypnosis will work or not
- Build better rapport and involvement with your client
- Be able to address blocks in therapy that previously stumped you
- Identify ecological objections, secondary gains & other variables in advance of interventions used
- Elicit the real criteria needed for change
- Have a more comprehensive understanding of the relationship between the conscious and subconscious mind
- Have access to a range of powerful processing and releasing techniques that will pay for themselves many times over
- Learn some highly effective reframes that quickly change patients’ perspectives
- Be able to work in a more dynamic and interactive way
- Working in a creative, flexible and interactive way is also enjoyable for the client and the therapist.
- Increase your income by being able to offer more to your clients, increase your success and referral rate
It doesn’t matter whether you are starting out or already an experienced practitioner. You will learn a whole range of useful ideas, tips, and techniques that will immediately benefit you and your clients. Please note that aside from a website in an already overly crowded market, I have succeeded in establishing a very busy Practice almost exclusively by word of mouth. It would be impossible to sustain this kind of continuity unless the techniques used got results that people talked about.
What Is The 4Rs Protocol?
Over seventeen years ago, when I first decided to train as a therapist, I wanted to find and train in the best therapy techniques available. I trained in psychology (including CBT, Systemic Therapy & Interpersonal Therapy); The Human Givens approach; Gestalt Therapy; clinical hypnosis, NLP, EFT, TFT, TPM and more. I have spent well over £60,000 studying the most highly regarded approaches and techniques available. Drawing from the best of these approaches, over time I have developed my own framework for explaining how problems are formed and in turn what needs to happen so they can often be quickly resolved. Once you know the points of leverage to address, it is possible to induce massive change easily and quickly. It is common in my sessions for major dramatic changes to happen in just one or two sessions even for chronic problems (see testimonials), and to have a turn around in chronic depression or anxiety in just a handful of sessions.
Past clients have variously described the 4Rs Protocol (in contrast to their previous experiences of mainstream therapy), as ‘dynamic’, ‘really interesting’ and ‘like nothing they have every experienced before’. This is because the 4Rs Protocol is not an intellectual talking therapy that talks at the client hoping that something will click. With the 4Rs Protocol the client immediately takes centre stage and feels involved as an active participant in an on-going feedback process that gets artfully leads them to access the problem, elicit the relevant information needed for change, and then to employ a range of tried and tested techniques to effect those changes.
Key Points of The Protocol
As a style of therapy the 4Rs Protocol is:
- Systems & Parts Orientated
- Interactive & Feedback based
- Creative – both in the use of ‘reframes’ and techniques employed
- Experiential (emotions and ‘live’ feelings) vs Intellectual
Live demonstrations for applications of the 4Rs Protocol techniques constitute a major part of this training. It’s best to see the 4Rs Protocol in action as much as possible for addressing a wide variety of issues, especially: self-esteem issues, anxiety, phobias, traumas, depression or relationship issues. Live demonstrations will be done with either attendees or real life patients who have volunteered for demonstrations in lieu of fees. If you have a friend, family or client who would like to experience high quality free therapy, then please let them know about this weekend. Otherwise please do be prepared to participate in demonstrations in order to get the most from the training. Attendees will also be invited to practice their understanding of the 4Rs Protocol in front of the group while I ask the group to assist and brainstorm ideas to help. That way the techniques will be learnt in a dynamic and interactive way, which is at the core of the 4Rs Protocol philosophy.
Testimonials from Attendees of the Soft Launches
“I got so much out of the training, and have used it with several people e.g. one lovely girl who I have been seeing with GAD and very low self-esteem issues helped to get to root cause, ditto with another lady with OCD and binge eating.”
C.B – BACP Counsellor
“I’ve used EPRT with quite a few clients now, often with very rapid progress occurring. I like that it keeps clients engaged, and allows for immediate feedback, and that is also fits well with the mindfulness based approach I’ve been using over the last couple of years…”
Joseph Kao – Hypnotherapist
“I got feedback from one friend who I worked with who said she had more insight in two session using EPRT with me than in three years of personal therapy, and she is a trained counsellor!”
Lesley Provan – NLP Coach
“This is was fab Felix. I felt like a different person and so relieved to tackle issues that I have struggled with in an easy, supportive and effective way”.
“I love EPRT. I use the overall approach in a way that fits in neatly with my ways of working and it is extremely effective in working with personality parts – it leaves no stone unturned. It is a highly valued addition to my skillset.Everything was explained with clarity and enthusiasm, and at just the level of detail and understanding I needed”.
Gary Turner, hypnotherapist & performance coach
“Why I think this (therapy) works and is so helpful is that the prosecutor in my head is so clever, it’s the cleverest part of me, and all way up to this point in my life, people have given me all types of therapy, and the prosecutor has been able to twist and change things, but (in this therapy) you are like the defendant… you are able to take the prosecutor head on and contest things directly, and everything that he says is ‘proof, proof, proof’ of my worth you say ‘Well you are calling it proof, but its not actual proof’… because no one else has ever taken it on, it’s been allowed to flourish and thrive and twist things, so it’s really nice to have someone take that on. That silences the prosecutor a lot…. It’s a part of me that never really been looked at challenged or spoken to.”
